Stomping my feet I headed back inside the cabin with an arm full of wood for the fire and a scowl on my face. I dumped the logs unceremoniously next to where they were supposed to go, before dropping to my knees and angrily stacking them in a pile.

“What's wrong, sweetheart?” Misha called from his spot on the couch, where he sat drinking a cup of tea I wanted to steal to warm my hands up.

“My feet are wet, my hands are ice. I do not like this cold and dampness in the wild.” I was running on low sleep with a broken heart and frayed nerves, so maybe I was being a bit unreasonable, “Yes, I am glad there are no midgets from the nature to attack me but I am still unimpressed. Though I suppose midgets don’t like winter, they are probably hiding out and waiting to murder me in summer.”

Price and Kody burst out laughing in the kitchen as Misha attempted to stop himself from giggling too. I had no idea what I said that was funny though so frowned at them all.

“Midgets?” Misha repeated to me as I cocked a brow a little huffy.

“Yeah, those annoying little thingies that fly. The ones who like the damp and bite you all over to make you unhappy.” Once during a summer vacation, I had gone to Loch Ness in Scotland with my dad, and we had been violently attacked by the monsters for the entire three days we were there.

“I think they’re called midges, gorgeous.” Price struggled to fight his laughter, almost doubled over with it, “Midget is a kinda rude word to talk about a small person.”

My hand shot to my mouth, eyes wide.

“No?” I had to fight my embarrassed laugh, “I have used the word for years! Why did nobody tell me?!”

Making errors with words wasn’t a problem for me because I knew multiple languages and it was hard as hell to remember to use the right things sometimes. But to make a mistake like that? Diabolical.

It was funny as hell though which did help my mood heighten a little bit.

“Dunno but that made me laugh.” Price continued with his humor as he made me a cup of tea and brought it to me, as though he had read my mind.

My hands wrapped around the mug and I thanked him when I got to my feet, kicking off my boots and taking a seat on the couch.

“Here;” Misha lifted the blanket, throwing me around me and tucking my feet in too. “Don’t want you getting cold.” He smiled.

He was far too nice to me for someone who deserved better than me. It was a thought that kept popping into my brain and I hated it. I hated that Misha’s captor was still running free. I hated that I had no idea who she was. And I hated even more that I was stuck waiting around for other people to do things so that I could help him and help myself.
